General Competition Terms & Conditions

Please read these Competition Terms and Conditions (“Terms”, “Terms and Conditions”) which apply to all competitions promoted by Satellite and Media Services Limited (“us”, “we”, or “our”) on any of its platforms.
These general Terms and Conditions apply in addition to any specific Terms and Conditions which may be mentioned in any promotion of or messages about that competition on any of the Satellite and Media Services platforms.
By taking part in the competition, you accept and agree to these terms. If you do not agree with any of the Terms then you should not take part in the competition.
If our Terms change in any way, we will place an updated version on this page (displaying a version date at the top of the page); and where required, we will notify you of such changes either by email or when you log in. Regularly reviewing this page will ensure that you are always up to date. These Terms supersede and replace all previous versions of the Terms and Conditions.
Eligibility
1.1. Entrants must be residents of the United Kingdom, Isle of Man or Channel Islands and must be aged 18 years or over at the time of entry, unless specified otherwise. In which case, entrants aged under 18 years must obtain the consent of their parent or legal guardian to enter the competition and provide personal information about themselves.
1.2. Our employees and members of their immediate families, companies within our group of companies and/or those associated with the operation or promotion of the competition or prize draw, including without limitation the provider of the prize or the producer of the programme and/or their immediate families, are ineligible to enter. Any such entries are invalid.
1.3. We reserve the right at our sole discretion to ask for evidence to verify the age, identity and/or eligibility of any entrant at anytime, and to use any channels and methods available to carry out checks of any details provided. We may withhold delivery of a prize until we have received such evidence from the winner and failure to provide such evidence in a timely manner may result in forfeiture of the prize.
1.4 No household is entitled to win more than 2 prizes in any one month.
Entry
2.1. The opening date and closing date and time for entries are as indicated in the competition. Any entries received before the competition or prize draw opens or after the closing date and time will not be counted but may still be charged.
2.2. For competition entry, entrants must answer the question(s) or complete the task(s) specified and/or submit the information as indicated in the competition. For prize draw entry, entrants must submit the information as indicated in the interaction information.
2.3. Entrants may be required to provide their full name, full contact telephone number (including area code if providing a landline number) or other method of contact (if applicable), email address and/or any other information as specified at the time of entering the promotion. This information cannot be amended once an entrant has entered the promotion.
2.4. Each entrant will be charged the cost of entry (if any)as indicated in the competition. If charges apply, entrants must have the permission of the bill payer before entering the promotion.
2.5. Entry to the promotion must be by the applicable method(s) as indicated in the competition which may include any (but not necessarily all) of the following:
2.5.1. Phone entry: phone entrants should call the phone number as indicated in the competition, and follow the instructions in the recorded message or as directed by the presenter.
The call charges will be the cost indicated in the competition plus any applicable network access charge. The total cost will be dependent on the entrant’s network.
2.5.2. Web entry (including social media): web entrants are required to follow the instructions on the website or social media platform as indicated in the competition
2.5.3. Postal entry: postal entrants may enter the promotion by mailing their full name and a contact telephone number (including area code if providing a landline number) or other method of contact (as applicable), as well as other required information and/or material to the postal address as specified in the competition. Entries must be sent on a postcard or on or within an envelope. Entries received on anything other than a postcard or envelope will not be accepted. In the case of multiple entries received in a single envelope or postcard, only one entry will be entered into the promotion. Entries sent by post must be received at the relevant postal address specified for entries by the closing date and time for receipt of entries. Postal entries without correct and sufficient postage paid will be invalid and will not be considered. Personal and hand deliveries will not be accepted.
2.6. Entries must not be sent in through agents, third parties or on behalf of another person unless otherwise specified in the interaction information. Such entries are void. Bulk entries are void and cannot be accepted.
2.7. In the event of any fault, mistake, misunderstanding or dispute concerning the correctness or acceptability of any answers given by entrants, or the operation of any part of the competition or prize draw service, networks or systems, our decision shall be final.
2.8. We reserve the right to exclude any entries which we believe to be inappropriate, fraudulent or based on misconduct.
2.9. Unless otherwise stated in the competition, no purchase is necessary in order to enter the competition.
Prizes
3.1. The prize is as specified in the competition. Unless otherwise stated in the competition, each entrant is limited to winning one prize per competition or prize draw.
3.2. The prize is subject to availability and to winner confirmation, i.e. we manage to contact the winner and confirm eligibility. The prize is also subject to the terms and conditions of the prize provider, their agents, and where applicable to the terms of the venue and/or the manufacturer.
3.3. Any prize elements including travel and/or accommodation will be subject to availability. Certain dates may be excluded when the winner may not take up the prize. Where the prize involves travel or accommodation on a date and/or to a destination to be chosen by the winner, the prize provider reserves the right to determine a final date by which the prize must be taken. Where the prize necessitates travel and/or attending an event on a specific date, the winner must be available on the date(s) specified by the prize provider in the interaction information and no alternative dates will be available.
3.4. Where the prize includes a cheque, voucher or gift card, such prize will be made payable in pounds sterling in the name of the winning entrant only and such cheque, voucher, or gift card cannot be made payable to any third party. No other form of payment than that indicated in the competition information will be provided to the winner.
3.5. Where the winner is to be selected at random, he or she will be selected either by a computer process that produces verifiably random results or by an independent person, or under the supervision of an independent person. If the selection of a winning entry is open to subjective interpretation, an independent judge, or a panel that includes one independent member will be appointed.
3.6. Prize winners will be notified in the manner and within the time specified on the competition (and may be contacted by us or the prize giver). Return of any prize notification as undeliverable or failure to reply as specified in the notification (and within the time stated) may result in disqualification and selection of an alternate winner. If more than one prize is awarded only one prize per entrant will be awarded.
3.7. We and/or the prize giver may publish prize winners details for promotional purposes.
3.8. For delivery of the prize, you may be required to be available at a specified time and place.
3.9. We may refuse to provide a prize, or seek its recovery, in the event of non-entitlement under the interaction terms and conditions oran entrant’s breach of the interaction terms and conditions, fraud or dishonesty, including but not limited to the use of technology which enables an entrant to evade applicable charges when entering the promotion.
3.10. Unless the prize is time critical, we/prize provider(s) endeavour to deliver the prize to the winner within twenty eight (28) days from the date of winner confirmation unless stated otherwise in the competition. If the prize is time critical the we/prize provider(s) will endeavour to deliver the prize to the winner as soon as reasonably practicable before the necessary time to take up the prize.
3.11. We/prize provider/their agents will not be liable where a prize has been lost, damaged or stolen following delivery and such prize will not be replaced.
3.12. Prizes are subject to availability and no warranty as to the quality or suitability of any prize is offered. In the event of unavailability, an alternative prize of similar value and specification will be substituted.
3.13. Any prize image is merely an indication and may not exactly represent the prize being offered.
3.14. No cash equivalent (where applicable) or alternative prize will be given at the request of the winner and the prize is non-transferable, non-saleable and non-exchangeable.
Winner Selection
4.1. Where the winner is randomly selected, the draw for the winner will usually take place within one week of the closing date and time for all entries unless otherwise specified in the competition. Where the winner is not randomly selected, the competition will detail the judging criteria on which the winning entry will be selected.
Legal Undertaking
5.1. By entering a competition you will be deemed to have legal capacity to do so, you will have read and understood and accepted the Terms and Conditions and you will be bound by them and by any other requirements set out in any of competition related material.
5.2. Competitions are governed by English law and all and/or any matters or disputes relating to the competition will be dealt with and/or resolved under English Law and the Courts of England shall have exclusive jurisdiction.
5.3. In the event that you participate in the competition online via the channel/website/social media platforms, and by accepting these Terms and Conditions you hereby confirm that you are not breaching any laws in your country of residence regarding the legality of entering our competitions. We will not be held responsible for any entrant entering any of our competitions unlawfully.
Promotion Periods
6.1. Each competition will run for a specified period. Please see each competition for details of start and end times and dates.
Winner Contact
7.1. The winner will be contacted as soon as practicable on or after the draw date or judging date (as appropriate) as indicated in the competition. Reasonable efforts will be made to contact a winner via the details provided when entering the competition or such other method of contact deemed appropriate by us in our sole discretion in the circumstances.
7.2. In the event that the winner cannot be contacted or if the winner fails to meet any of the eligibility requirements or is otherwise unable to comply with the interaction terms and conditions, this may result in forfeiture of the prize and we reserve the right to disqualify that entrant(without further liability to that entrant) and offer the prize to the next eligible entrant and thereafter until a winner is found.
7.3. Any entrant and/or winner must comply with any directions given to them by us, prize provider(s) and/or their agents and with all relevant laws, rules and regulations, restrictions, and where applicable, compliance with the Ofcom. Failure to comply with instructions, rules, restrictions, requirements, laws and guidelines may result in an invalid entry and/or forfeiture of the prize.
7.4. Winners may be requested to take part in post event promotional activity and we reserve the right to use the names and contact details of winners, their photographs and audio and/or visual recordings of them in any publicity.
Miscellaneous
8.1. Open/close times: The opening and closing time for voting or participating in the interactive poll is as specified in the competition. Applications made or received outside of these specified times will not be counted but may still be charged where applicable.
8.2. We reserve the right to suspend, withdraw or re-set any voting/poll or competition and/or may change times for voting and participating in the poll or the rules for participating in the poll or vote in their sole discretion at any time.
8.3 Anyone having difficulties getting through to the voting lines or interactive poll service should wait and then try again within times when the vote or poll is open.
8.4 Method: In order to vote or take part in the interactive poll or vote, you must follow the instructions as set out in the competition. Participation must be by the method(s) specified in the competition. Your vote will not be counted or interaction will not be taken into account if you attempt to vote or take part in the poll using a method that is not specified in the competition.
8.5. In the event of any fault, mistake, misunderstanding or dispute concerning the outcome of a vote or poll, or the operation of any part of the competitions, our decision shall be final.
8.6. If we have reason to believe that an individual entrant to our competitions or prize draws has made 30 or more entries (or such other level as set out in the interaction information) using different phone numbers(or other details on which limits on number of entries are based) from any one entry platform then the promoter will treat this as an attempt to unfairly influence the competition or prize draw and all entries submitted by that entrant will be discounted.
8.7. If we determine that an individual has attempted to unfairly influence or manipulate results then in addition to disqualification and/or discounting entries, votes or polls for that competition we may (in our sole discretion) ban that individual from future competitions and disqualify and/or discount any future entries, votes or polls.
Limits of Liability
9.1. We do not make or give any representations and/or warranties and/or assurances of whatever nature and howsoever arising (and whether in writing or otherwise) as to the quality, suitability and/or fitness for any particular purpose of any of the goods or services advertised, offered and/or provided as prizes. We shall not be liable for any loss suffered or sustained to person or property including, but not limited to, consequential(including economic) loss by reason of any act or omission by the us of the prize giver, its servants or agents, in connection with the arrangement for supply, or the supply, of any goods by any person to the winner(s) and, where applicable, to any family/persons accompanying the winner(s).
9.2. Out total maximum aggregate liability shall be limited to the total value of the prize that has been won by the relevant winner.
9.4. Nothing in these terms and conditions shall prevent you making claims to the extent that you are exercising your statutory rights.
9.5. Any personal data relating to entrants will be used solely in accordance with current UK data protection legislation and best practice. Please see our Privacy Policy for further details. Data relating to entrants will be retained by us for a reasonable period after the competition closes to assist us to operate competitions in a consistent manner and to deal with any queries.
Jurisdiction
10.1. All competitions are and will be governed by English law and any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England.

Specific Competition and Promotion Terms and Conditions
HalalBooking Ramadan 2024 Rules
One prize of £150 equivalent in Cash Points to be spent on accommodation booked on HalalBooking.com through HBLC will be awarded on the Big Ramadan Show on 20th and 24th March 2024 to a caller chosen at random who correctly answers the day’s question. A winner of a third prize of £150 equivalent in Cash Points to be spent on accommodation booked on HalalBooking.com through HBLC will be awarded to one person who has entered the competition online before Monday 25th March 2024 at 12 noon and chosen at random.
NQC Ramadan 2022 Rules
Phone-In round: The phone in rounds will last for the first 11 episodes. They will be treated as the qualifying rounds for the competition meaning that once the phone in rounds are complete no one else may be able to participate in the competition. Please note that finalists from the Ramadan 2021 competition and Hajj 2021 competition are not permitted to join this competition. Only children aged 5-15 years old are permitted to join the competition and must be UK-based. Parents or guardians must dial into the studio and give permission for their child to participate, without a parent or guardian giving permission no candidate will be allowed to enter the competition. Participants will have up to 3 minutes to recite a passage of their choice from the Quran either from memory or by reading from the book. Judges will provide feedback for every participant who called in at the end of the show and decide who will be going forward to the next round of the competition. If a participant does not get through to the next round their parent can call back on a future qualifying phone in round to try again.
Zoom round: Qualifying participants will be split over 5 episodes from episode 12 to 17 where they will recite a passage of their choice from the Quran either from memory or by reading from the book via a video feed through the Zoom application. Contestants will be those that have been selected from the initial phone in rounds and no new contestant can join at this point, unless due to withdrawals the producers decide at their discretion to supplement the numbers of remaining competitors. The chosen passage must be different to what the contestant recited at the phone in round. Judges will provide feedback at the end of each show and qualify 2 or 3 participants to go through to the quarter finals.
Quarter finals: 16 participants will be split across 4 episodes from episode 18 to 21 and will join via a video feed through the zoom application. No new contestants will be allowed to enter at this stage, however in the case of withdrawals the producers can include at their discretion unsuccessful participants from the previous round to supplement numbers if required. The contestants will be briefed beforehand to prepare 1 Surah each from Juz 30 and Juz 29 from memory. A show judge will choose which Juz they will recite from and the participant will be required to recite the Surah they have prepared from that Juz from memory. The judge will then recite 3 verses from either Juz and the participant will need to tell the judge which Surah the verse is from. Judges will provide feedback at the end of each show and put 2 participants through to the Semi-finals.
Semi-finals: 8 participants will be split across 2 episodes from episode 22 to 23 and will join via a video feed through the zoom application. No new contestants will be allowed to join at this stage, however in the case of withdrawals the producers can include at their discretion unsuccessful participants from the previous round to supplement numbers if required. The contestants will be briefed beforehand to prepare 1 Surah each from Juz 30 and Juz 29 from memory, different to the Surahs they recited in the quarter finals. A judge will choose which Juz they will recite from and the participant will be required to recite the Surah they have prepared from that Juz from memory. The judge will then recite 3 verses from either Juz and the participant will need to tell the judge which Surah the verse is from. The Judge will also ask each participant 3 questions about Tajweed rules which the participant must answer correctly. Judges will provide feedback at the end of each show and put 2 participants through to the Finals.
Finals: 4 participants will be competing for the number 1 slot in this final episode taking place in the studio. No new contestant will be allowed to join at this stage, however in the case of withdrawals the producers can at their discretion include unsuccessful participants from the previous round to supplement numbers if required. The contestants will be briefed beforehand to prepare 1 Surah each from Juz 30 and Juz 29 from memory, different from the Surahs they recited in the Semi-final. A judge will choose which Juz they will recite from and the participant will be required to recite the Surah they have prepared from that Juz from memory. The participants then need to translate the Surah they recited to English. The judge will then recite 3 verses from either Juz and the participant will need to tell the judge which Surah the verse is from. The Judge will also ask each participant 3 questions about Tajweed rules which the participant must answer correctly. Judges will provide feedback at the end and the presenter will announce who the winners are. The judges will present them with their trophies. All winners will receive a cash prize except the 1splace winner who will receive a trip to Pakistan paid for by the competition sponsors Al Mustafa Welfare Trust to see the Quran schools they have made for less fortunate children.
